TONIGHT! Beer Tasting – Refreshing Summer Beers

Closed on July 4th

No Firkin For July – Summer Bummer

Bastille Day Fête – July 14

June Beer Tasting – Summer Beers – June 21

This month’s beers will be Bell’s Oberon, Lazy Magnolia Indian Summer, Choc Summer, and Sierra Nevada Summerfest.

Tastings include 3 ounce glasses of each beer, and begin at 4 o’clock.

We hold a beer tasting every third Monday of the month. The price and line-up are subject to change.

Closed on July 4th

We will be open on the 3rd and the 5th.

We wish you safe travels if you are on the road this holiday weekend. If not, please come by and see us!

And don’t forget the Cloverdale-Idlewild Fourth of July Parade. Starts at the corner of Plymouth and Lexington at 2 pm, and ends at the Cloverdale Bottom Park. Band starts at 6 pm. For more info go here or here.

It’s a great Cloverdale and Montgomery tradition that’s been going on since 1976. Someone that works at El Rey drove a Big Wheel at the first one, but we aren’t saying who …

No Firkin – July 5th

The firkin that could make Huntsville famous isn’t happening. Huntsville, Alabama’s Straight To Ale Brewing Company’s first attempt at casking a beer for us didn’t work out, but hopefully by August the gremlins will be gone and the beer will be here.

We will have Straight to Ale’s Monkeynaught IPA and Werner Von Brown Ale on tap in July. Check our twitter updates or draft beer list to find out what’s on tap.

Sorry to disappoint our cask-beer lovers. Summer bummer, indeed.

Bastille Day Fête – July 14

As a way of saying “merci bien” for letting Mexico trample all over France at last week’s World Cup match we’re having an even bigger Bastille Day celebration this year.

Like 2009’s fête all of our wine by the glass will be $5.25. But new this year will be a coursed dinner with wine pairing.

The kitchen at El Rey have created an affordable three-course menu using seasonal ingredients from Red Root and other Montgomery-area farms. Can you say “Ratatouille Tacos?”

We will post the menu in July’s newsletter. Our regular menu will be offered that night, too!

Good luck with your squad, France. Come by. We’ll let you eat cake. Tres Leches cake.
